ARC Prosecutor’s Office condemned the visit of French MPs to the occupied Crimea

July 1, 2020

The visit of French MPs of the European Parliament to the occupied Crimea is a testament to the support of the occupation of a part of a sovereign and independent state. However, such actions do not create any legal consequences for the constitutionally fixed status of the peninsula. This was reported by spokeswoman for the Prosecutor’s Office of the ARC Kateryna Didenko via her Facebook page.

“Foreign citizens have the right to enter and exit the territory of the peninsula through checkpoints located on the mainland of Ukraine, having previously obtained permission from Ukrainian state authorities. For violation of this procedure, individuals can be held administratively or criminally liable”,- the message claimed.

It is noted that such actions do not create any legal consequences on the constitutionally fixed status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as part of the sovereign territory of Ukraine.
