The streambed of the North Crimean Canal in the direction of Armyansk and Dzhankoy on the Russian-occupied peninsula is in disrepair and unsuitable for use. This is evidenced by aerial footage from a quadrocopter received by the Center for Investigative Journalism from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The main channel of the North Crimean Canal and its branches in the area of the cities of Armyansk and Dzhankoy in the occupied Crimea are in extremely poor condition. The streambed of the canal was abundantly covered with trees and bushes. This can be seen in the video that was shot over the occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea with the help of a quadrocopter and transmitted to the editors of the Center for Journalistic Investigations.
The video shows that in some places there are no concrete slabs that laid the streambed. In addition, waste dumps are noticeable in the streambed overgrown with vegetation.
Judging by the abandoned technical condition of the canal, the occupation authorities do not pay any attention to the preservation of this important hydrotechnical facility. Significant funds and capital work will be necessary to restore its functioning.
Aerial photography also recorded fortifications built by the occupying forces of the Russian Federation near the administrative border between the Kherson region and the occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
