Russian scientists claim that they allegedly found fresh water in the occupied Crimea

Scientists at the Sevastopol State University and the Crimean Research Institute of Agriculture of the Russian Academy of Sciences claim that they allegedly discovered large reserves of groundwater in the annexed peninsula. This was reported via the website of the university.

“For two years, scientists from Sevastopol State University and the Crimean Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture of the Crimean Academy of Sciences studied two underground high-temperature centers located in the Crimean mountains where pressure underground fresh water is formed. Scientists have established that there are large streams of high-pressure underground fresh water with a temperature of 80-850 ° C. At depths from 350 to 500 m, there are also water flows migrating along tectonic splits through the entire territory of Crimea”, – the report said.

It is noted that the main problem of deep underground water production is the high cost of drilling wells, which hinders their use. However, in Crimea there are areas where high-pressure underground fresh water flows from the lower aquifers to the upper, which makes it possible to drill shallow wells with high production rates.

“We hope that in a dry year our technology will be in demand in Crimea for an operative search for deep groundwater”, – said Nikolai Kovalev, head of the research laboratory of the University of Sevastopol, candidate of technical sciences.
