OSCE SMM began officially recognizing that it works with Crimea

June 15, 2020

Yevhen Tsymbaliuk, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to international organizations in Vienna, stated that the OSCE special monitoring mission has begun to officially recognize that it works with Crimea, although six months ago it tried to avoid this issue. It is reported by Ukrinform.

“Of course, one cannot talk about real achievements yet. But the most important thing is that the mission began to officially recognize that it works with Crimea. Yes, they are not physically allowed there, but literally six months ago the SMM leadership generally tried to avoid discussing the Crimean issue. Thus, there is some political progress in this direction”,- Tsymbalyuk noted.

The head of Ukraine’s mission to the OSCE emphasized that the Ukrainian delegation and its Western partners have called for monitoring the situation in Crimea.
