The so-called third Hizb ut-Tahrir case defendant Rustem Seitmemetov was taken out for a forced psychiatric examination, but there are absolutely no grounds for sending a political prisoner to a psychiatric hospital. It is reported by the Crimean Solidarity public association.
“We objected to sending my client to such an examination. Firstly, such examination in this category of cases is optional. Secondly, the law requires that the decision to conduct an examination of a certain person must be connected with factual grounds, that is, with objective suspicions that a person can be recognized as insane to one degree or another. That is, certain deviations should be fixed and the investigator should motivate it. There are absolutely no grounds for sending my client to a psychiatric hospital for an examination”,- said lawyer Nazim Sheikhmambetov.
The lawyer emphasizes that these actions are another element of pressure on the defendants to incriminate themselves.
We remind that on March 11, Russian security officials raided the homes of Crimean Tatars in Bakhchisaray and the Bakhchisaray district. Searches were carried out in the house of Seitumer Seitumerov, Shukri Seitumerov, Amet Suleymanov, Seidamet Mustafayev, Rustem Seitmemetov, Ayder Suleymanov and Seitumer Seitumerov. The activists were detained. On March 12, the so-called Kyiv District Court of Simferopol sent Amet Suleymanov under house arrest. On March 13, the so-called Kyiv District Court of Simferopol chose a measure of restraint in the so-called third Bakhchisaray Hizb ut-Tahrir case in the form of detention. Osman Seytumerov, Seytumer Seytumerov and Rustem Seitememetov will remain in jail until May 10, 2020.
