During the event called Foreign and Security Policy during the German Presidency of the EU, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that sanctions against Russia should be maintained until the Russian Federation provides Ukraine with full control over Crimea.
“Russia has repeatedly violated numerous values and rules. Russia created a belt of unresolved conflicts in the immediate vicinity and annexed the Ukrainian Crimean peninsula in violation of international law. It supports puppet regimes in some parts of eastern Ukraine and attacks Western democracies with hybrid means, including Germany”,- said Merkel.
Angela Merkel emphasized that while basic requirements of international law are not respected, sanctions will continue.
