On the eve of the anniversary of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people, unidentified individuals committed an act of vandalism in the Crimean Tatar (Muslim) cemetery in the village of Vladyslavivka Nyzhniohirsky district. Vandals destroyed the tombstones, but Russian law enforcement agencies described it as the “family affair.” This is reported by the Krym. Realii media agency.
“On May 16, relatives at a Muslim cemetery discovered broken tombstones. These are about 5-6 tombstones. When they turned to law enforcement agencies, they considered it to be a family affair. Some hostile, even supposedly hostile, relations to each other and that this is in no way inciting ethnic hatred. They simply tried to nullify the matter”,- said lawyer Emine Avamileva.
The lawyer believes that this is a provocation, since broken tombstones were discovered on the eve of the anniversary of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people.
We remind that this is not the only case of vandalism in the occupied Crimea. After the occupation, cases of desecration of memorials throughout Crimea dedicated to the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people became more frequent. In addition, last year, vandals desecrated a memorial in Sevastopol dedicated to the Turkish soldiers who died during the Crimean War.
