The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses its strong protest due to the fact of the decision of the court of the Russian Federation to leave the independent journalist Nariman Memedeminov behind bars. The Foreign Ministry demands the immediate release of the Crimean blogger and other Ukrainian political prisoners. This was reported by the press service of the department.
“Such actions are outrageous evidence of Russia's unwillingness to stop the shameful practice of repression against the Crimean Tatar people. And the Russian occupation authorities consider those who try to convey objective information about the state of affairs in the occupied territory to be especially dangerous. It is because of this that Memedeminov, an independent journalist, blogger and activist appeared in the field of view of the so-called Russian justice and is now imprisoned”,- the statement claimed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs demands the immediate release of the Crimean journalist and all other Ukrainian political prisoners, since the danger to the life and health of illegally detained citizens of Ukraine is growing considering the rapid spread of COVID-19 infection in the Russian Federation and alarming reports of special vulnerability in prisons.
