Two years ago, on May 10, 2018, in the village of Orlyne, Sevastopol, Russian security officials searched the dwelling of two siblings – Ernest Seitosmanov and Enver Seitosmanov. The first was released after interrogation, and Enver was arrested on suspicion of his involvement in the Hizb-ut-Tahrir organization, which was banned in Russia. For two years now he has been illegally detained. During this period, the right to a fair trial and the right to a healthcare access were repeatedly violated against him.
Earlier, the Russian investigation tightened Seitosmanov’s accusation from Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code (“participation in the activities of a terrorist organization”) Part 1 (“organization of the activities of a terrorist organization”). On April 16, the Military Court of Appeal of the city of Vlasikha, Moscow Region rejected the appeal against the sentence to Enver Seitosmanov, who was sentenced to 17 years in a maximum security penal colony.
