Crimean political prisoners offered to purchase remedies on their own

The head of the Russian medical unit, Alexander Pachganov, said that political prisoners from Crimea, in the context of a coronavirus pandemic, should acquire protective equipment on their own, in the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service store. It is reported by the Crimean Solidarity public association.

“In order to ensure the rights of citizens in custody for healthcare, convicts, suspects and accused are given the opportunity to purchase personal protective equipment (masks, gloves) and skin antiseptics in the stores of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia when they are taken to investigation rooms, departed for investigation actions, court hearings”,- writes the head of the Federal High-Command Educational Institution MSC-61 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

It is noted that in the conditions of a coronavirus pandemic, meetings with defenders, lawyers and other individuals on the territory of pre-trial detention facilities with suspects, accused and convicted individuals will be held in the premises of short-term meetings rooms (through glass), in exceptional cases, upon written request of arrivals, it will be possible to conduct meetings in the premises of investigative offices of institutions while wearing personal protective equipment.
