There are more coronavirus-infected on the peninsula than identified – Aksenov

May 4, 2020

On Monday, May 4, during a meeting of the operational headquarters for countering COVID-19, the so-called head of Crimea Sergey Aksenov said that there are more coronavirus-infected on the peninsula than identified, since only those who have obvious symptoms of SARS, flu and pneumonia are tested.

“In Crimea, there may be a negative scenario for the development of the situation with coronavirus. If now the detection process goes (up) with obvious signs, then, in theory, in a negative forecast we can close all our observation facilities and hospitals. Still, God forbid, infection will be passed  to medical workers, then in general we may lose health care facilities. Here is a negative outlook. Its probability is quite high”,- Aksenov said.

The so-called head of Crimea noted that he understands that there are more coronavirus-infected on the peninsula than identified. Only those with clear signs of SARS, flu and pneumonia are tested for coronavirus.

As of May 4, 111 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Crimea. In Sevastopol – 91 infections with COVID-19, two people have died.
