EU calls on Russia to lift ban on Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people

On Thursday, April 30, during an online meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, the European Union called on the Russian Federation to comply with the order of the International Court of April 19, 2017 to lift ban on Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people. It is reported by Ukrinform.

"The EU remains concerned about the human rights situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, illegally annexed by Russia. It has been four years since Russia banned the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people. We urge Russia to comply with the order of the International Court of April 19, 2017 to lift this ban ", the message said.
 
It is noted that the EU called on Russia "to refrain from imposing any restrictions on the religious, cultural, state and private life of the Crimean Tatar community."
