The Crimean Prosecutor’s Office began criminal proceedings against the invaders due to the lack of proper conditions in places of detention during the coronavirus pandemic. People with suspicion of COVID-19 or SARS are placed in the “quarantine cells” of pre-trial detention centers, but no one provides any medical assistance. This was reported by the press service of the department.
“The autonomy prosecutor’s office began criminal proceedings on the fact that the occupants did not take measures to counteract the spread of COVID-19 among Crimeans, including among the prisoners in places of detention (part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Violation of laws and customs of warfare”)”, – the message said.
It is noted that people suspected of having COVID-19 or SARS are placed in the “quarantine cell” of the pre-trial detention center, however, the prisoners are not subjected to a qualified examination and testing for coronavirus infection, they do not receive personal protective equipment, and the cell is not provided with the necessary sanitary and hygienic conditions. In addition, some Crimeans continue to be transported from Crimea to Rostov-on-Don.
