The Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has sent to court indictments concerning two deputies who contributed to the occupation of the peninsula. They have taken a number of illegal rulings, while upholding unlawful decisions of the Verkhovna Rada of the ARC to hold a so-called referendum. This was reported by the press service of the department.
“As a result, it was found that in 2014, the deputies of the Sevastopol City Council of the VI convocation, adopted a number of illegal resolutions, upholding the unlawful decisions of the Verkhovna Rada of the Crimea on holding a so-called Crimean referendum, which in its turn sought to legitimize the occupation of the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and also to ensure their unlawful entry into the Russian Federation on the rights of the subject of the Federation”, – the message underlined.
It is noted that by their actions, the defendants harmed the sovereignty, territorial integrity, border inviolability of Ukraine, helped the Russian Federation to occupy the peninsula. Deputies face a sentence of imprisonment for a term of twelve to fifteen years.
