The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission on its Facebook page recalls that 3 years ago, on April 19, 2017, the UN International Court of Justice ruled in the case of Ukraine vs. Russia. The court ruled that the Russian Federation should: 1️) ensure the availability of education in the Ukrainian language in Crimea; 2️) to refrain from restrictions on the representative bodies of the Crimean Tatars, including the Mejlis.
"We urge the Russian Federation to act in accordance with the order delivered by the United Nations International Court of Justice dated of April 19, 2017: to lift the Mejlis ban and to provide the access to education in Ukrainian language in Crimea," the report said.
