Political prisoners Arsen Dzhepparov and Refat Alimov have been unlawfully detained for 4 years

Four years ago, on April 18, 2016, Russian security forces in Crimea detained Arsen Dzhepparov and Refat Alimov on suspicion of involvement in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization banned in the Russian Federation. On November 12, 2019, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced them to 7 and 8 years in prison, respectively. For four years, Dzhepparov and Alimov have been unlawfully detained. During this period, the right to due process and physical and mental health care was repeatedly violated against them.

Previously, on December 5, 2017, the defendants in the Yalta "Hizb ut-Tahrir case", Emir-Husein Kuku, Vadim Siruk, Muslim Aliev, Enver Bekirov, Arsen Dzhepparov, and Refat Alimov, were transferred to Rostov-on-Don through Krasnodar.

On November 22, 2018, the North Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sent Yalta "Hizb ut-Tahrir case" for reconsideration to the "prosecutor" in Crimea.

In December 2018, six defendants in the Yalta "Hizb ut-Tahrir case" were transferred from Russia to the annexed Crimea for further investigation and change of charges.

On October 11, 2019, in the Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don, during the court debates, the prosecutor requested 13 to 20 years of imprisonment for the defendants in the Yalta case of Hizb ut-Tahrir. On November 12, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don issued a sentence. Muslim Aliev and Enver Bekirov were sentenced to 19 and 18 years of imprisonment, Emir-Husein Kuku and Vadim Siruk to 12 years, Refat Alimov to 8, and Arsen Dzhepparov to 7 years.
