Lawyer Nikolai Polozov said that Russia decided to suspend the negotiation process on the exchange of prisoners. We are talking about the Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians, whom the Russian government illegally detains in its territory and in the occupied Crimea. This was stated by Nikolai Polozov on the air of one of the Ukrainian TV channels, Channel 24 reports.

“The negotiation process on the transfe of Ukrainian political prisoners by the Russian side has been suspended for some reason. Now 120 Ukrainian political prisoners – Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars – expect these talks to be resumed and they will have a chance to return home”,- Polozov said.

He also noted the fact that Ukraine in the Minsk negotiations was able to agree on the release of Ukrainians held by militants in the occupied Donbas. This was achieved, despite the epidemic and quarantine.

“As for me, it’s possible to conduct some aspects of this dialogue remotely with respect to Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia”,- the lawyer said.

During the recent negotiations of the tripartite contact group in Minsk, an agreement was reached on the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and pro-Russian militants.
