"It was established that the coast of the Black and Azov seas of the temporarily occupied peninsula were polluted as a result of the overfreight of Russian tankers with oil products and other combustive and lubricating materials. The pollution is spotted in the neutral waters of the Black Sea to the south from Kerch Strait and at another three sites, with the total square of more than 24 square km", – says the message
As we reported the prosecutor's office and the police of Crimea registered a criminal proceeding under part 2 of article 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the rules for the protection or use of mineral resources). It has been established that after the occupation of the peninsula, the dam of the Nyzhnyo-Churbaske (Lower Curubas) reservoir in the city of Kerch had been used for illegal sand extraction, as a result, the city beach is contaminated with the mud after sand washing and extraction.
At the same time, toxic waste gets into the Black Sea, posing a threat to public health and the environment.
