Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Liudmyla Denisova appealed to the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, with a request to verify the legal grounds for placing Crimean Tatars in punishment cells in correctional facilities. She reported this via her Facebook page.
“The administration of the correctional colony, where Ayder Saledinov, Teymur Abdullaev, Uzeir Abdullaev and Emil Dzhemadenov are detained, places them in a pre-trial detention center in order to have formal reasons for changing the conditions of detention to more severe ones, which also negatively affects their health condition and causes exacerbation of chronic diseases”,- the report said.
Denisova explained that Ayder Saledinov has problems with heart and teeth, Teymur Abdullaev suffers from heart and liver failure, chronic rhinitis and allergies, Uzeir Abdullaev was diagnosed with erysipelatous skin inflammation, which causes fever, purulent wounds throughout the body and swelling of the limbs. Emil Dzhemadenov has a chronic stomach ulcer and mitral valve prolapse.
The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights stressed that the health of the illegally convicted citizen of Ukraine Volodymyr Yakymenko is deteriorating – during this week, his body temperature rises to 38 degrees and a dry, suffocating cough appeared.
“In addition to that, all illegally convicted citizens of Ukraine are detained in improper conditions without personal protective equipment and necessary medications, in the context of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic caused by SARS-COV-2 coronavirus, it can endanger their life and may have fatal consequences”,- she added.
Denisova demands from the Russian Federation to verify the legal grounds for placing Crimean Tatars in the punishment cells of correctional facilities and to provide proper conditions of detention and necessary medical assistance to all illegally convicted citizens of Ukraine.
