Czech Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček in conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba supported the preservation of sanctions against the Russian Federation, despite the coronavirus pandemic. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“Dmytro Kuleba drew the attention of his colleague to Russia's attempts to ease sanctions under the guise of a coronavirus pandemic. He noted the need to maintain sanctions, as they were introduced not because of a pandemic, but because of the annexation of Crimea and armed aggression in the Donbas. The Czech Foreign Minister confirmed that he shared such an approach, and sanctions against the Russian Federation should be preserved until it fulfills its obligations”,- the report said.
Earlier, U.S. Deputy Representative to the UN Cherith Norman Chalet called on the world community to impose sanctions against Russia for its actions in Crimea. She also called on Russia to provide UN and OSCE access to the territory of the annexed peninsula.
