NBU restores residency status to citizens of Ukraine who have Crimean registration

The National Bank of Ukraine decided to remove legal formalities in order to facilitate access to financial services for citizens of Ukraine who have a permanent residence in the temporarily occupied Crimea. This was reported by the NBU press service.

“For this purpose, in the regulatory framework of the National Bank, special rules on the application of currency legislation to citizens of Ukraine who have Crimean registration are canceled and their residency status is restored”,- the statement informed.

It is explained that the aforementioned changes are aimed at facilitating the access of such citizens to certain basic services, including opening a bank account or deposit in Ukrainian financial institutions.

The resumption of residency status for such citizens of Ukraine was initiated by the Ministry of Veterans, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine.
