Ukraine temporarily closes the checkpoints on the administrative border with occupied Crimea

Ukraine ceases to operate checkpoints of entry into the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and departure from it until April 3, 2020. They will let in only those citizens of Ukraine whose purpose is to protect national interests or fulfill international obligations. This was reported by the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs of Ukraine.

“By April 3, 2020, the work of entry checkpoints to the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and departure from it, except for the admission of citizens of Ukraine and their families, protecting national interests or fulfilling international obligations, as well as representatives of diplomatic institutions and humanitarian missions traveling from the Authonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as well as their vehicles, cargo and other property”,- the statement informed.

It is noted that the entry and departure of other categories of foreigners and stateless individuals is carried out in agreement with the Ministry for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories together with the State Border Service Administration.

“We emphasize that the temporary closure of the checkpoints will not only reduce the flow of possibly infected citizens of Ukraine from Crimea, but also protect them. First of all, the elder people, because according to medical statistics, coronavirus is the most dangerous for them|,- the Ministry added.
