On Thursday, March 13, the Kyiv district “court” ruled to detain the defendants in the third Bakhchisaray “Hizb ut-Tahrir case”. Osman and Seytumer Seytumerov and Rustem Seitmemetov will remain in jail until May 10, 2020. This was reported by the “Crimean solidarity”.
Seytumer Seytumerov said that during the search the books have been discovered that he had never seen before. Even the handwriting does not correspond to his or his wife’s.
“There were some materials that I study as a historian, and they do not belong to this organization. As a historian, I study political documents and they have nothing to do with this organization. There are collected materials, but I use them as a historian, and not against this organization, as they say now," he added.
Osman Seytumerov during the "court hearing" asked for a house arrest, as he suffers serious health problems. Nevertheless, the “court” did not change its decision.
“We dreamed for a long time with parents to return to Crimea, our dream came true. But my parents could not enjoy this dream for long. I stayed and I’m not going to run away. I have nothing to be blamed for. If there is such an opportunity, release me under house arrest,” said Rustem Seytmemetov.
Previously, on March 11, Russian security officials raided the homes of Crimean Tatars in Bakhchisaray and the Bakhchisaray district. Searches were conducted in the house of Seitumer Seitumerov, Shukri Seitumerov, Amet Suleymanov, Seidamet Mustafayev, Rustem Seitmemetov, Ayder Suleymanov, and Seitumer Seitumerov. A number of activists were detained. On March 12, the Kyiv district “court” of Simferopol sent Amet Suleymanov under house arrest.
