The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine: “Ban on journalist Taras Ibrahimov’s entry into occupied Crimea is a part of the repressive mechanism of the Russian Federation”

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine condemns Russia’s ban on journalist Taras Ibrahimov’s entry into the occupied Crimea and calls on its international partners to step up pressure on Russia to release prisoners of Crimean Tatar civil journalists. About it reports the chairman of NUJU Serhii Tomilenko reports about it via his Facebook page.

“Of course, such a ban is better than a real Russian prison. But it is obvious that the Russian authorities are hindering all journalistic activities in the peninsula by all means. And the ban on Taras is part of a repressive mechanism that includes searches, arrests, fines and ban on the profession”,- the message outlined.

The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine condemns the persecution of journalists in Crimea and calls on the international partners to increase pressure on Russia to release Crimean Tatar civil journalists, which were imprisoned.

We remind that on January 18, the FSB forbade entry to the occupied Crimea to the Ukrainian journalist, the employee of the Crimea.Realities media agency Taras Ibrahimov till 2054. The reason for the ban was the administrative protocol for illegal employment.
