The arrested resident of Simferopol, Ivan Yatskin, is being denied healthcare access in the Russian pre-trial detention center – lawyer

January 20, 2020

The arrested resident of Simferopol, Ivan Yatskin, who is accused of high treason in the form of espionage, suffers from a number of diseases, but he is not provided with medical assistance in the Russian pre-trial detention center. This was reported by lawyer Nikolai Polozov via his Facebook page.

The lawyer notes that the FSB carried out a special operation to detain him in strict confidence. Only at the end of December, more than two months later, the Russian media stated that he was arrested, and all this time “he was without any help and support, alone in a Lefortovo behind bars”.

“I met with Ivan at the Lefortovo jail at the end of last week. For me it is obvious that he is a patriot of Ukraine and he really counts on the support of Ukrainian state, Ukrainian society and his relatives and friends”,-  the message emphasized.

Polozov claimed that Ivan Yatskin suffers from a number of diseases that require the provision of healthcare, which is a completely inadmissible luxury in the conditions of Russian pre-trial detention centers.

“I urge all concerned people to help me in providing assistance to Ivan Yatskin, for this it’s enough to do a little now – to spread this information. We will fight until victory!” – added the lawyer.

We remind that in early December 2019, Russian security forces in occupied Crimea detained a resident of Simferopol, Ivan Yatskin, on charges of allegedly high treason. Subsequently, the man was tranferred to Moscow. He was arrested until March 16, 2020.
