Five persons involved in the so-called second Simferopol Hizb ut-Tahrir case were transferred from Russia back to occupied Crimea. Bilyal Adilov, Dzhemil Gafarov, Shaban Umerov, Servet Gaziev and Yashar Muedinov are currently held in jail # 1 of Simferopol. The aforementioned is reported by the Crimea.Realities media agency with a reference to the lawyer Edem Semedlyaev.
“The other day, five more individuals involved in the so-called Simferopol Hizb ut-Tahrir case were transferred to the Simferopol pre-trial detention center – Bilyal Adilov, Dzhemil Gafarov, Shaban Umerov, Servet Gaziev and Yashar Muedinov”, – the lawyer mentioned.
We remind that on the 27th of March, the Russian security forces in occupied Crimea carried out mass searches in the dwellings of 26 Crimean Tatars. Literature was seized from some activists, which, according to Crimean Solidarity, was planted by the representatives of the security forces themselves. In addition to books and brochures, people’s phones, tablets, laptops, passports wee confiscated. Security officials behaved rudely. It is reported that they used physical force against detainees and entered their dwellings in shoes. Lawyers who arrived at the site of the searches were not allowed to access the detained. As a result of the aforementioned actions, 20 people were suspected of their involvement in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, which is prohibited in the Russian Federation. On the 28th of March three more Crimean Tatar activists were detained, searches of their dwellings were carried out in their absence. The whereabouts of yet another Crimean Tatar – Edem Yayachikov remains unknown. On the 27th-28th of March, the so-called court arrested all 23 detainees after the searches. The preventive measure in the form of detention was assigned until the 15th of May. The individuals were accused of their involvement in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization that is prohibited in the Russian Federation. In August the so-called court hearings were held to extend the preventive measure to the defendants in the so-called second Simferopol Hizb ut-Tahrir case. The detainees are left in custody until the 14th-15th November 2019.
