On Tuesday, October 15, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation left unchanged the sentence issued to two defendants of the “Ukrainian saboteurs case”, Volodymyr Dudka and Oleksiy Bessarabov. This was announced by Dudka’s son Ilya on his Facebook page.
"The verdict was left unchanged. 14 years in maximum-security colony and fines. There is no faith left in the judicial system. Here it is, the price of not admitting guilt and not cooperating with the investigation …. the price for this is life," the report said.
Earlier, it got about that the defendants of the “Ukrainian saboteurs case”, Volodymyr Dudka and Oleksiy Bessarabov, were transferred to the Moscow detention facility “Sailor’s Silence”.
Previously, on April 4, the Sevastopol city “court” sentenced the defendants of the “Ukrainian saboteurs case”, Volodymyr Dudka and Oleksiy Bessarabov, to 14 years in prison and issued an administrative fine of 350 and 300 thousand rubles, respectively.
On November 9, 2016, FSB officers detained Volodymyr Dudka, Oleksiy Bessarabov, Dmytro Shtyblikov, and Gleb Shablii in Sevastopol on suspicion of preparing sabotage in Crimea (article 30 and paragraph "a" of part 2 of article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that these repressive actions are a spectacle for an external audience that aims to discredit Ukraine in the eyes of the world community, as well as for an internal Russian audience to convince that Ukrainians are dangerous.
On May 18, 2017, Dmytro Shtyblikov entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation, that is, he pleaded guilty. None of the independent lawyers were allowed to see him. On November 16, 2017, the Sevastopol city “court” sentenced him to 5 years in a maximum-security colony and issued an administrative fine of 200 thousand rubles.
