Two years ago, on October 11, 2017, Russian security forces carried out mass searches in the households of Crimean Tatars in Bakhchysarai. As a result of these repressive actions, Marlen Asanov, Timur Ibrahimov, Memet Belyalov, Ernest Ametov, Seyran Saliiev, and Server Zakiryaev were detained. On September 12, all defendants were transferred from Crimea to Rostov-on-Don.
Previously, on October 11, 2017, in Bakhchysarai, the occupants carried out mass searches in 6 households of the Crimean Tatars – Marlen Asanov, Seyran Saliiev, Timur Ibrahimov, Memet Belyalov, Ernest Ametov, and Server Zakiryaev. All of them were detained. They were charged under Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Participation in the activities of an organization which, in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, is recognized as a terrorist."
On May 21, 2018, in occupied Crimea, Russian security forces conducted searches in the households of activists of Crimean Solidarity organization, as a result of which Server Mustafayev and Edem Smailov were detained. They are also accused of participating in the organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation.
In February 2019, a criminal case was opened against eight defendants of the Second Bakhchysarai “Hizb ut-Tahrir case” – Marlen Asanov, Seyran Saliiev, Timur Ibrahimov, Memet Belyalov, Ernest Ametov, Server Zakiryaev, Server Mustafayev and Edem Smailov (violent seizure of power or violent retention of power).
On March 5, the charges were toughened for two defendants of the second Bakhchysarai “Hizb ut-Tahrir case” – Timur Ibrahimov and Memet Belyalov – the first part ("organization of the activities of a terrorist organization") instead of part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code ("participation in the activities of a terrorist organization").
On September 12, all eight defendants of the Second Bakhchysarai “Hizb ut-Tahrir case”, Marlen Asanov, Server Zakiryaev, Memet Belyalov, Seyran Saliiev, Ernest Ametov, Timur Ibrahimov, Edem Smailov, and Server Mustafayev were transferred from Crimea to Rostov-on-Don.
