On Saturday, the 7th of September, at Kyiv’s Boryspil airport, an airplane landed with 24 POWs as well as 11 political prisoners who were illegally detained in Russian prisons and pre-trial detention centers. All of the aforementioned prisoners were released as a part of an exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia. A video was posted on the website of the President’s Office on Facebook, in which 35 Ukrainian prisoners return home.
As a part of the so-called 35 to 35 exchange, 24 POWs were released: Roman Mokryak, Yuri Bezyazychny, Andrei Artemenko, Andrei Eider, Bohdan Holovash, Denis Hrytsenko, Vasily Soroka, Bohdan Nebylytsa, Viacheslav Zinchenko, Sergei Tsybizov, Sergei Popov, Kostishin Vladislav, Andrei Oprysko, Andrei Drach, Oleg Melnychuk, Mikhail Vlasyuk, Viktor Bezpalchenko, Vladimir Tereshchenko, Yevgeny Semidotsky, Vladimir Lisovy, Andrei Shevchenko, Vladimir Varimez, Sergei Chuliba, Yuri Budzylo.
And also 11 political prisoners returned to their homeland as well: Oleg Sentsov, Olexandr Kolchenko, Vladimir Balukh, Roman Suschenko, Mykola Karpiuk, Stanislav Klykh, Pavlo Hryb, Evgeniy Panov, Artur Panov, Edem Bekirov, Oleksiy Syzonovych.
"We shall futher approach the issue of liberation of all of our citizens and continue the two-stage troop withdrawal within the Minsk process: first the Zolote-Petrivs’ke, and then the full-scale ceasefire throughout all the territory of Donbas which will hopefully lead to an end of the war", – the Head of State emphasized at the airport.
