On Wednesday, the 24th of July, the North Caucasus District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don dismissed an appeal against the defense of a journalist Nariman Memedeminov to change his pre-trial detention, claiming that the defendant is likely to try to hide from the investigation or inflience the witnesses according to Crimean Solidarity media agency.
"I believe that in this very situation, it will be more or less justified and more fair to choose any other measure of restraint not related to the detention center, as this would allow Nariman Memediminov to exercise his rights for family life, private life and health. So I ask the court to consider this issue", – the lawyer said during her speech at the hearing.
The lawyer added that at no time, in any of the court sessions, did the investigation or the prosecution party provide any factual evidence that he could hide.
"I think all criminal cases against me and my compatriots are politically motivated. The results of all these processes are obviously clear. I have no desire to participate in these lawsuits, to say something, to explain something. All these proceedings are based on assumptions. This is an objective fact", – Nariman Memedeminov emphasized.
