From now on Ukraine will only participate in PACE meetings dedicated to the matter of imposing sanctions against the Russian Federation

June 25, 2019

The Ukrainian delegation to PACE will take part only in those meetings of the Assembly, within the framework of which the issue of imposing sanctions against the Russian Federation will be considered. This was underlined by the Ukrainian MP, a representative of the Ukrainian delegation to the PACE Oleksii Honcharenko in his comments to the ATR journalist.

"We decided at this very session for ourselves that the Ukrainian delegation would take part only in those meetings and gatherings that concern the imposition of sanctions against the Russian Federation. That is why we are present here today: in order to challenge their authority, which we successfully did. In order not to give Sluts’kyi sit on the presidium, what we were able to do. Tomorrow we will come to the meeting to vote for the imposition of sanctions against the Russian Federation. All other issues on the agenda will not be even considered by our delegation", – Honcharenko admitted.

On the 3rd of June in Paris at a meeting of the regulatory committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a resolution that could ensure the return of Russia to PACE was reviewed and approved. On the 24th of June in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the delegation of the Russian Federation was allowed to return to the Assembly’s session hall with the restoration of all previous rights without fulfilling any conditions relating to the restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, including the endof the Russian occupation of Crimea.
