Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev recalled that April 19 marked the 240th anniversary of the illegal annexation of Crimea by the Russian Empire.
He stressed that over these 240 years, the Crimean Tatars have turned from a population of several million people into a numerical minority in their homeland, and from 1944 to 1989 they had no right to live on their land at all.
“240 years of the Russian yoke. 240 years of persecution and destruction of the indigenous people of Crimea. 240 years of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people. During these 240 years, cultural heritage sites, language, culture, toponyms and traditions have been destroyed. And if someone else doubts, then let me remind you that Russia is a colonialist and occupant”,- Bariiev emphasized.
The Chairman of the Board of the CTRC stressed that today Russia is trying to destroy Ukraine and if the colonialist is not stopped, how many other peoples in the world can suffer?
