In Crimea, the political prisoner Vladimir Balukh intensifies his hunger strike, drinking only water. Such a decision is a protest against the provocation of the detention facility administration in relation to the Ukrainian activist. It has been reported on the website of “Krym.Realii”.
According to Simferopol and Crimean archbishop Clement, Balukh is under the pre-trial detention center administration psychological pressure.
"We had a short two-minute conversation before the court’s hearing, he said that he was under the psychological pressure of the administration of the pre-trial detention center, he was not allowed to meet his relatives, was subjected to regular searches." Right now, before delivering him from Simferopol to Razdolnoe from his two person cell, all his things were taken out and packed into the car, in Razdolnoe he will be sent to the 18-person cell. In this regard, he told me that he will intensify his hunger strike", – Archbishop Clement told the correspondent of "Krym.Realii".
Balukh's lawyer Olga Dinze claimed that due to the provocations against Balukh, organized by the pre-trial detention center administration "he turns to water as a sign of protest".
The next meeting is taking place on July 2.
On January 16, the Razdolnensky district court of Crimea sentenced Vladimir Balukh to three years and seven months of the colony settlement and imposed a fine of 10 thousand rubles. He was accused of alleged possession of ammunition. On March 14, the Supreme Court of Crimea changed the verdict against the Ukrainian activist Vladimir Balukh. "Judge" Timur Slezhko excluded from the charge the item concerning acquisition of ammunition. Because of it, the verdict was changed to 3 years and 5 months of imprisonment in a colony settlement. On March 19, it became known that Vladimir Balukh started a hunger strike, protesting against the verdict handed down to him.
