On Tuesday, March 16, the anniversary of Russia’s so-called referendum on the status of the Crimean peninsula, British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons stated that Britain will never recognize an illegal occupation that is disrespectful to Ukrainian and international norms.
“7 years ago, Russia held a fictitious referendum trying to legitimize its illegal control over Crimea. Britain will never recognize this blatant disrespect for Ukrainian and international law. Our message remains clear: Russia must return Crimea to Ukraine”,- wrote Melinda Simmons via Twitter.
