The FSB of the Russian Federation claims that it stopped the activities of the interregional extremist community At-Takfir wal-Hijra, which is prohibited in Russia. According to the service, 19 people were detained in the Karachay-Cherkes Republic, the Republic of Crimea, the Krasnodar Region and the Rostov Region. The press service of the department reported about this.
“So, in February 2021 in the Karachay-Cherkes Republic, the Republic of Crimea, the Krasnodar Region and the Rostov Region, 19 radicals were detained, who, in addition to promoting ideology and recruiting new supporters, planned to commit sabotage and terrorist acts in the North Caucasus on behalf of At-Takfir wal-Hijra”,- the message said.
It is noted that over 40 copies of extremist materials were seized in the course of searches at their places of residence and secret gatherings.
The detainees were charged under Part 1, Part 1.1, Part 2 of Article 282.2 (organization and participation in the activities of an extremist organization) of the Criminal Code of Russia, in relation to 10 organizers and active participants of the extremist organization, a preventive measure was chosen in the form of detention.
