Single pickets in support of Crimean Tatars held in Russia

January 19, 2021

On Monday, January 18, the participants of the Russian initiative Strategy-18 held single pickets in Russia for the de-occupation of Crimea and in support of the Crimean Tatars. They unfurled posters with the words: Terror against families in Crimea, Crimean Tatars are not terrorists, Fatma, we are with you, No – to deportation of Crimean Tatars to Russian prisons, Crimea is Ukraine and others. In addition, it became known about the detention of participants in the movement in St. Petersburg. This was announced by the protesters via their Facebook pages.

It is noted that 7 participants of the picketing in support of the Crimean Tatars in Murino were detained, after which they were taken to the 87th police department.

“Quietly and imperceptibly for many, repressions against the indigenous population of Crimea have become family cases. This is when two or even three men are taken from a family and convicted for fictitious crimes. An example of this is a sentence of 48 years (in total) for three Crimean Tatars. This case clearly and vividly demonstrates that the justice of the Russian Federation in the occupied territory is engaged in brutal repression”,- the message said.
