On May 28, 2026, the Vinnytsia City Court handed down a verdict against singer Taisiya Povaliy, who was found guilty of supporting an aggressor state, promoting war, and publicly justifying Russian aggression against Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General.<\/p>\n
The court sentenced her to 12 years in prison, barred her from holding certain positions for a period of 15 years, and ordered the confiscation of all her property in favor of the state.<\/p>\n
It is known that after the Revolution of Dignity and the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Povaliy moved to Russia, where she lives in Moscow and continues her creative and entrepreneurial activities. In 2023, she received Russian citizenship.<\/p>\n
The investigation established that after moving to Russia, the singer systematically supported the Kremlin\u2019s policies and participated in Russian propaganda events. In particular, she performed at concerts in support of participants in the so-called \u201cspecial military operation,\u201d took part in events dedicated to the illegal \u201cannexation\u201d of occupied Ukrainian territories to the Russian Federation, and disseminated anti-Ukrainian narratives in the Russian media.<\/p>\n
In her interviews, Povaliy publicly promoted the ideas of the \u201cRussian World,\u201d disparaged Ukrainians, and justified Russia\u2019s aggression against Ukraine.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn 2024, based on materials from the prosecutor\u2019s office, the High Anti-Corruption Court ruled to confiscate the defendant\u2019s assets for the state, namely:<\/p>\n
\u00b7 seven land plots in the Kyiv region with a total area of 9.3 hectares;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 a residential building with a total area of 442 square meters;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 a property with a total area of 101 square meters;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 two vehicles;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 four firearms;<\/p>\n
\u00b7 property rights to the music and lyrics to nine compositions, the statement said.<\/p>\n
The pre-trial investigation as part of the criminal proceedings was conducted by investigators from the SBU Office in Vinnytsia Oblast. The sentence will take effect after the convicted person is actually detained.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that Taisiya Povaliy has performed repeatedly in the temporarily occupied Crimea and continues to publicly support the policies of the aggressor state.<\/p>\n
It should be recalled that back in 2021, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center called for sanctions against 230 individuals\u2014actors, musicians, and TV presenters\u2014who violated Ukrainian law by engaging in public activities on the occupied peninsula. After all, the actions of representatives of the Russian entertainment industry serve the Kremlin\u2019s propaganda goals, which aim to cement the occupied Crimea as part of the Russian Federation in the minds of Crimeans, thereby posing a threat to Ukraine\u2019s national interests, national security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.<\/p>\n
In 2021, the CTRC sent official letters with relevant proposals to the President of Ukraine, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
