September 24 marked three years since the death of Crimean Tatar soldier Rustem Ablyatifov (call sign Nogai) in the Russian-Ukrainian war.<\/p>\n

Rustem was born in Odessa. He first obtained a degree in marine engineering at a maritime vocational school, and then graduated from the Odessa State Maritime Academy. In 1998, he received a law degree from the Taurida Institute of Entrepreneurship and Law, and in 2002, he received a master’s degree in public administration with honors from the Ukrainian Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

He lived and worked in Crimea: he taught law at the Crimean Law Institute, worked at the Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and at the State Committee for Nationalities and Migration, and was involved in public and analytical activities. He actively participated in the campaign to restore Ukrainian citizenship to previously deported Crimean Tatars.<\/p>\n

He was an active participant of the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity.<\/p>\n

After the occupation of Crimea, he moved to Lviv, where he taught at universities. Since 2015, he fought in the ATO in Donbas: first as part of the Viking volunteer corps, then in the Right Sector Ukrainian Volunteer Corps. He was disabled after being wounded, but did not stop.<\/p><\/div>\n

On the second day of the full-scale Russian invasion, Rustem returned to duty, this time as part of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. He fought in the Luhansk region. At the end of the summer of 2022, he defended his dissertation at Lviv National University and received a PhD.<\/p>\n

On September 24, 2022, Rustem Ablyatifov was killed in battle with Russian occupiers in the Kherson region.<\/p>\n

We remember his feat and continue the struggle for which he gave his life.<\/p>\n
