On July 23, Eskender Bariiev, Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center and member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, took part in a diplomatic reception on the occasion of Revolution Day, the national holiday of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The event was organized by Barakat El-Leity, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Egypt to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

During the reception, Eskender Bariiev congratulated the Ambassador and guests on Egypt’s biggest national holiday and recalled the deep historical ties between the Crimean Tatar people and Egypt.<\/p>\n

\u201cUkraine’s connection with Egypt through its indigenous Crimean Tatar people is of great historical significance,\u201d – Bariiev said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n


\nThe Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Cultural Center recalled Sultan Baybars, a native of Crimea, who is considered one of the most outstanding military leaders and political figures in the entire Middle East. The people called him \u201cFather of Victories\u201d and \u201cDefender of Islam.\u201d After becoming sultan, Baybars did not forget his homeland. He sent generous gifts to the Crimean city of Solkhat, where, on his initiative, a mosque was built, which eventually became known as the Baybars Mosque. The ruins of this shrine have survived to this day in the city of Stary Krym.\u201cIn this way, the sultan immortalized his memory in his homeland,\u201d – Bariiev added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Crimean Tatar Resource Center notes that it continues to work on strengthening ties with residents of Egypt and other countries in the region. We use Arabic in our information campaigns. In particular, we publish posters and materials for distribution on social media in order to communicate more effectively with audiences in this region.
