In the context of the longstanding occupation of Crimea and the recent occupation of southern Ukraine, Russian authorities continue their brutal repression of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people and other residents of the region.<\/div>\n
\nAs Eskender Bariiev, Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center and member of\u00a0 Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, notes on his Facebook page, despite the hopes of many families that silencing arrests and searches will help resolve the issue on the ground, the occupiers continue to use trumped-up criminal charges as a tool of intimidation.<\/p>\n

According to his data, new cases of persecution of Ukrainian citizens have come to light in recent days:<\/p>\n

1. Murat Kadyrov<\/strong> (born in 1991, Sevastopol) – arrested on 14 February 2023 on charges of \u2018financing terrorism\u2019. 8 years ago the guy transferred 3000 rubles to the bank card of a low-income person, which led to his detention and subsequent arrest under Article 205. part 1. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Murat was professionally engaged in Greco-Roman wrestling, had a number of awards for participation in various competitions, and was a private entrepreneur. During his stay in SIZO-2 he received 20 beatings with a stun gun.<\/p>\n

2. Rustem Mevlyutov<\/strong> (born in 1965 in the village of Schastlivtsevo, Genichesk district) – arrested on 8 December 2023 for allegedly participating in the volunteer battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan. Sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.<\/p>\n

3. Eskender Audzhi<\/strong> (born in 1988 in Semihatki village, Genichesk district) – arrested on 25 July 2023 and sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for alleged participation in the same battalion. He has a one-year-old daughter and is serving his sentence in the Vladimir Central of the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n

4. Amina Kadyrova<\/strong> – arrested in January 2024. She has been under house arrest with a bracelet for 7 months because of her alleged participation in the volunteer battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan, although of course she has nothing to do with it.<\/p>\n

These cases are just part of the systematic persecution by which the occupiers try to suppress any resistance and intimidate the local population. However, silencing such crimes only makes the situation worse.<\/p><\/div>\n
