In particular, attention will be focused on the lack of opportunity for residents of the occupied peninsula to exercise the right to a fair trial and the consequences of this. The event will emphasize the importance of restoring the rule of law and ensuring justice for victims of human rights violations and the challenges faced in this process.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers will include:<\/p>\n<p>Eskender Bariiev &#8211; Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre, member of\u00a0 Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people;<\/p>\n<p>Emine Suleymanova &#8211; sister of political prisoner Marlen Mustafayev;<\/p>\n<p>Ayshe Kurtamet &#8211; mother of political prisoner Appaz Kurtamet;<\/p>\n<p>Tetiana Lukyanenko &#8211; relative of political prisoner Rustem Gugurik;<\/p>\n<p>Borys Babin &#8211; expert of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center;<\/p>\n<p>Liudmyla Korotkikh &#8211; lawyer of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.<\/p>\n<p>During the event the following topics will be discussed:\u00a0Trends of human rights violations in the occupied territories of\u00a0southern Ukraine.<br \/>\n1.Trends of human rights violations in the occupied territories of\u00a0southern Ukraine.<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n2.Politically motivated trials as the main tool of prosecution.\u00a0The \u00abjudicial\u00bb system and the trial in the occupied Crimea: the\u00a0position of international institutions.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>3.The \u00abjudicial\u00bb system and the trial in the occupied Crimea: the\u00a0position of international institutions.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>4.Mechanisms for ensuring accountability and justice for the\u00a0victims of human rights violations.<\/div>\n<div>\nThis event will be hosted by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center\u00a0 as part of the Engage Program funded by USAID and implemented by Pact in Ukraine.
