This is stated on <a href=\"https:\/\/pca-cpa.org\/en\/news\/pca-press-release-pca-case-no-2017-06-dispute-concerning-coastal-state-rights-in-the-black-sea-sea-of-azov-and-kerch-strait-ukraine-v-the-russian-federation-3\/\">the website<\/a> of the PCA<\/p>\n<p>It is known that the hearings on the case will last from 23 September to 5 October in a closed format. Ukraine is represented by Foreign Ministry ambassador for special assignments Anton Korinevich, while the Russian delegation is headed by Russian Foreign Ministry ambassador Hennadiy Kuzmin.<\/p>\n<p>We shall remind you that the arbitration process was launched on 16 September 2016, when Ukraine filed a lawsuit against Russia for violating the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. It was a dispute over the rights of the coastal state in the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2017, the first meeting of the UN Tribunal on the Law of the Sea was held, which established an arbitration to consider the dispute between Ukraine and russia. On 19 February 2018, Ukraine submitted a package of evidence to the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague that russia was violating its sovereign rights in the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and the Kerch Strait.<\/p>\n<p>Russia, in turn, appealed the tribunal&#8217;s jurisdiction to hear the claim.
