For more than eight years, the whereabouts of Ervin Ibragimov, a member of the executive board of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars, have remained unknown. He was forcibly abducted on 24 May 2016 in Bakhchisarai. Today, 17 July, he turned 39 years old. We sincerely hope that Ervin will be found and will return home to his parents!<\/p>\n
We would like to remind you that on 24 May 2016 at 22-20 on the bypass road of Bakhchisarai city Ervin Ibragimov’s car was stopped by unknown persons (presumably traffic police officers). After that, he was forcibly pushed into a minibus, he tried to run away, but he was caught and thrown into the car, which drove towards the Bakhchysarai reservoir, through a forest belt. Ervin’s abduction was recorded by a video surveillance camera.<\/p>\n
The so-called Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Crimea opened a criminal case under paragraphs \u2018a, c\u2019 of part 2 of article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (kidnapping), but there is no information about Ervin’s whereabouts.<\/p>\n
The activist’s father believes that Ervin’s abduction was pre-planned and carried out by the state authorities of the Russian Federation. It is indicative that for eight years there has been no progress in the \u2018investigation\u2019 of the case by the occupation law enforcement agencies, and the young man’s whereabouts remain unknown.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre, member of\u00a0 Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Eskender Bariiev is also from Bakhchysarai and was acquainted with the abducted Crimean Tatar. According to him, Ervin was patriotic, after the occupation of Crimea the man was offered a job in Kyiv, but he refused to leave the peninsula.<\/p>\n
\u2018He was there consciously to fight for the rights of Crimean Tatars. And I think he realised that it was dangerous. Because to be in the occupied Crimea, when the occupiers are tracking all activists, and to be unnoticed, being in the Congress (World Congress of Crimean Tatars – ed.), it is impossible,\u2019 Bariiev said in a comment to \u201cSuspilne.Krim\u201d.<\/p>\n
