\u201cBring Me Back My Dad\u201d<\/a> to this topic, which tells the stories of children whose parents were imprisoned or forcibly abducted after the occupation of the peninsula.<\/p>\nBut in reality, the categories of children affected by the occupation of Crimea are much larger:<\/p>\n
– 15 children tragically died;<\/p>\n
– 1 infant was separated from his mother;<\/p>\n
– dozens of children have suffered due to the murder and enforced disappearance of their parents;<\/p>\n
– tens of thousands of children deprived of the right to learn their native (Crimean Tatar or Ukrainian) languages in the occupied Crimea;<\/p>\n
– tens of thousands of children have suffered ecocide in the occupied Crimea;<\/p>\n
– hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian children from mainland Ukraine have been deprived of the right to recuperation and medical rehabilitation in children’s health centers and children’s specialized sanatoriums in Crimea;<\/p>\n
– thousands of children have become forced migrants, thus deprived of the right to live in their homeland in the national community;<\/p>\n
– tens of thousands of children who have become victims of militarization of the educational process, in violation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and 51 Article IV of the Geneva Convention, which prohibits propaganda of service in the army of the occupying power among the civilian population. Russia forms in the minds of Crimean children the cult of war, service in the Russian army, the cult of violence and hatred;<\/p>\n
– thousands of children become victims of incitement of interethnic discord and racial intolerance;<\/p>\n
– thousands of children from orphanages are deprived of the right to obtain Ukrainian citizenship and move to the mainland of Ukraine;<\/p>\n
– tens of thousands of children are restricted in their right to receive education in Ukrainian universities.<\/p>\n
And since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the number of children affected has increased significantly. 1,904 children have been affected in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Millions of Ukrainian children have crossed the borders of neighboring countries as refugees, and the same number of children are now internally displaced inside Ukraine.<\/p>\n
The Russian Federation has taken childhood away from millions of children.<\/p>\n
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center believes that the Ukrainian and international communities should join efforts to protect the rights of children affected by the occupation of Crimea and the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in the near future. In its turn, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center will make its best \u00a0so that as many people in the world as possible could learn about the children who suffered because of Russia’s crimes.<\/p>\n
