On Friday, May 17, the Museum of Holodomor will host a public dialogue “Genocide of the Crimean Tatar people and ways to overcome its consequences”, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the total deportation of Crimean Tatars from their homeland by the communist regime.<\/p>\n

– Eskender Bariiev, Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre, member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.<\/p>\n
“During World War II, Crimea was subjected to ethnic cleansing and genocide by both totalitarian regimes – communist and Nazi. But the crime against the Crimean Tatar people occupies a special place among them,” – notes Andriy Ivanets.<\/p>\n
During the dialogue Andriy Ivanets will tell how and why genocide was committed against the Crimean Tatars, an important element of which is its silence.<\/p>\n
Eskender Bariiev, a member of \u00a0Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, will talk how the process of recognition of the deportation of the indigenous people of Crimea as genocide by the states of the world is progressing.<\/p>\n
