On May 2 in the Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don began consideration of the case of Kyrylo Barannik from Akmesdzhit (Simferopol) and seven other people. This was reported by the human rights activist and the coach of one of the defendants to “Suspilniy Krim”.<\/p>\n

Expert Iryna Sedova noted that Kyrylo Barannik \u00a0was tortured and forced to confess to the crime.<\/p>\n

“He stated that he was very cruelly tortured to confess in the crime. Namely in blowing up the railroad track on February 23 in the village of Pochtovoe in Bakhchysaray district. Later they started torturing him to pin another crime on him. To accuse him of blowing up the railroad,” – \u00a0the human rights activist said.<\/p>\n

Human rights activist Iryna Sedova is sure that all these detentions Russians use from the point of view of propaganda to show that “all Ukrainians are saboteurs and terrorists”.<\/p>\n

“Now they have combined Kyrylo Barannik ‘s case with other detainees, took it all to court, and are trying everyone together as a “terrorist group” that was preparing to destroy the entire Crimean top brass. These people are victims of political repression, these charges are falsified. There is no evidence,” – she assured.<\/p>\n

She also added that there is very little information about other ” figurants “.<\/p><\/div>\n

“‘There’s very little information about the other people, unfortunately.
\nWe don’t have information, we don’t have a connection and we don’t know who the lawyer is there. Most likely, “lawyers” of the FSB. The only thing I can say is that the case will be considered by Valery Opanasenko. This is such a judge, who participated in many politically motivated cases in Rostov court,” – said the analyst.<\/p>\n

We \u00a0would like to remind you that in June, a 33-year-old Kyrylo Barannik was forced by torture and threats to confess to blowing up a railroad track.<\/p>\n

According to Barannik, the FSS officers beat him and tortured him with electricity, despite the fact that he confessed his guilt on May 30, when he was kidnapped and interrogated at the FSS headquarters. The detention protocol was drawn up only the day after the confession, as confirmed by Barannik’s mother. There is no record of Barannik’s arrest on the “court” website.<\/p>\n

From June 5 to June 6, 2023 Barannik was tortured with electricity for 3-4 hours, demanding to confess in blowing up the railroad near the village of Chistenkoye. He did not confess, after which he was tortured for 6 hours in the FSB isolation ward from June 9 to 10. Lawyer Aleksey Ladin reported burn marks on Barannik’s fingers, as well as tumors and bruises in the area of ribs.<\/p>\n
