On April 11-12, 2024, the First Global Summit on Indigenous Peacebuilding was held in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Institute of Peace gathered 50 indigenous leaders from around the world at the event. In particular, Eskender Bariiev, Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, Head of the Department of External Relations and Human Rights Protection of \u00a0Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, and Liudmyla Korotkykh, a lawyer of the CTRC, also joined the summit.<\/p>\n

Eskender Bariiev notes the great importance of this event for several reasons:
\nOne of the organizers and founders of this Global Summit is an indigenous organization of Ukraine – Crimean Tatar Resource Center;
\nThe representatives of the CTRC voiced the problems of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine in the context of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, and the Summit was attended by the representatives of indigenous peoples from all over the world;<\/p>\n

This Global Summit will be a permanent International Platform for systematic coordination of indigenous peoples’ representatives among themselves to achieve Peace;
\nThe Resolution of the First Global Summit on Indigenous Peacebuilding \u00a0was adopted and signed, indicating the intentions of uniting indigenous peoples to fight together for the rights of indigenous peoples.<\/p>\n
