According to the organization, during the reporting period, Russian security forces conducted 65 searches, 173 arrests\/<span lang=\"EN-US\">detentions<\/span>\u00a0and 186 interrogations, interviews and conversations. The total number of arrests for\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2023\">2023<\/span>\u00a0is 217. Most of the violations by the occupiers occur among representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people. This practice has become systemic on the peninsula.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The press conference was attended by the\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">Head<\/span>\u00a0of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, the head of the department for legal issues and foreign affairs of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Eskender Bari<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev, and the communications manager of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center T<span lang=\"EN-US\">e<\/span>t<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ana Savchuk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">In\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2023\">2023<\/span>, 65 searches were recorded, 46 in the homes of Crimean Tatars. During the same period in\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2022\">2022<\/span>, 50 searches were recorded, and in\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2021\">2021<\/span>\u00a0&#8211; 53.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The searches were carried out in the houses of:<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 In January, Ibraim\u00a0Asanov,\u00a0\u00a0Ekrem\u00a0Krosh,\u00a0Aider\u00a0Asanov,\u00a0\u00a0Refat\u00a0Seidametov,\u00a0Osman\u00a0Abdurazakov,\u00a0Leman\u00a0Zekir<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>a<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev,\u00a0Khalil\u00a0Mambetov .<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 In February, twice in the house of Ilver Ametov, Dm<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>tr<span lang=\"EN-US\">o<\/span>\u00a0Demchuk,\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">H<\/span>al<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>na Balaban, and in the house of the parents of Abdulaziz Dzhemil<span lang=\"EN-US\">io<\/span>v.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 In March,\u00a0 in the houses of Edem Murtaza<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev, Memet Ashurov, Asan Abduramanov, Akhtem Ismailov, Lenur Urkumet, Lemmar Yunusov, Rolan Osmanov, Mustafa Mustafa<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev, Shevket Er<span lang=\"EN-US\">h<\/span>ashev.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 In April, in the houses of Fazil Emiruseinov, Abduresh<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>t Dzhepparov, Edem Ismailov and Bari Bari<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 In May, in the houses of seven citizens of Ukraine, Russia and Bulgaria in Crimea, who allegedly planned attempts against Aksenov, Konstantinov and Pavlenko, as well as\u00a0 in the house of Ridvan Rustemov.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 In June, in the houses of\u00a0 Jafer and Alim Al<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ustaev, Bekir Dervishev and Dil<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>aver Musa<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 In August, in the houses of Asan Zeker<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>a<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev, Ametkhan Umerov, Seidamet Mustafa<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev, Ruslan Asanov, Abdulmedzh<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>t Seitumerov, Eldar Yakubov, Remzi Nimetula<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev and 9 Jehovah&#8217;s Witnesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 In September, in the house of a 54-year-old Crimean citizen, detained for participation in the Noman \u00c7elebicihan Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion and in the houses of Andr<span lang=\"EN-US\">ii<\/span>\u00a0Bab<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>chenko, Amet Abdul<span lang=\"EN-US\">h<\/span>an<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>iev and Dzhelal Dzh<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>r<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>kov.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 In October, in the house of the parents of 20-year-old Crimean Tatar Lutfi<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>e Vel<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ieva and the house of\u00a0 Amet Bairov -the father-in-law of political prisoner Riza Omerov was also searched.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 In November, the houses of Yusuf Ash<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>rov, Vilen Useinov and Zinur Appazov as well as\u00a0 the house of the Crimean Tatar, chairman of the Muslim religious community Alushta Abdul\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">H<\/span>afarov were also searched.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u2014 In December, imam Ismail Yurdamov&#8217;s and activist Rustem Mustafa<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev&#8217;s houses were searched.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u201cIn\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2023\">2023<\/span>, 173\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">arrests<\/span>\/detentions were recorded, 119 in relation to Crimean Tatars. A number of recorded arrests were made after searches. Residents of Crimea were detained on suspicion of involvement in the organizations banned in the Russian Federation Hizb ut-Tahrir, Jehovah&#8217;s Witnesses, for evading conscription into the armed forces of the Russian Federation, for justifying terrorism on social networks, promoting terrorism, for state treason, and mass arrests were also recorded near court buildings\u201d<span lang=\"EN-US\">,-<\/span>\u00a0noted Eskender Bari<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ev.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">In\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2023\">2023<\/span>, 217 cases of arrests were recorded, of which 142 were against representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people. During the same period in\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2022\">2022<\/span>, 193 arrests were recorded, and in\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2021\">2021<\/span>\u00a0&#8211; 210.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">\u201cOut of 217 cases, 42 are new arrests, 55 are sentences, 1 are death sentences, 73 are administrative arrests, 45 are extensions of detention\u201d<span lang=\"EN-US\">,-<\/span>\u00a0explained Tatyana Savchuk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The speakers paid special attention to the fact that due to the failure to provide adequate medical care in Russian places of detention, two political prisoners died: Dzhemil Gafarov and Kost<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ant<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>n Sh<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>r<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>n<span lang=\"EN-US\">h<\/span>. A number of elderly political prisoners and political prisoners with chronic diseases are at risk, because huge sentences for them could be fatal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">CT<\/span>RC report, which is available on the organization\u2019s website, also contains information about interrogations, violations of environmental standards on the peninsula, improper conditions of detention in pre-trial detention centers and prisons, violations of the rights of political prisoners, illegal military exercises in the occupied Crimea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">In addition, based on the realities of our time, the\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">CT<\/span>RC began to record human rights violations in the temporarily occupied territories of Zapor<span lang=\"EN-US\">izh<\/span>zh<span lang=\"EN-US\">ia<\/span>\u00a0and Kherson regions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">So, as noted by T<span lang=\"EN-US\">e<\/span>t<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>ana Savchuk, communications manager of the\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">CT<\/span>RC, in\u00a0<span data-ukrnet-code=\"2023\">2023<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">CT<\/span>RC recorded at least 45 cases of detention, 20 arrests of representatives of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people, at least 17 searches, as well as 478 cases of murder.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/2-4.jpg\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/1-3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc2\">The report also drew attention to such cases as: torture and threats, illegal appointment of occupation authorities, deportation of children and propaganda, destruction of the ecosystem and highlighted other offenses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday, January 16, the Crimean Tatar Resource Center presented an analysis of human rights violations in occupied Crimea for\u00a02023.
