In Crimea, thousands of historical names of settlements and geographical objects were renamed, for example, Aqmescit became Simferopol, A<span lang=\"EN-US\">q<\/span>yar &#8211; Sevastopol, and Ichki &#8211; Sov<span lang=\"EN-US\">i<\/span>etsk<span lang=\"EN-US\">y<\/span>y.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc3\">Today it is extremely important to work on restoring the historical toponymy of Crimea, which is of great importance for establishing justice for the forcibly deported Crimean Tatar people, for whom the preservation of their identity and history is vital. Moreover, the restoration of historical toponyms in Crimea is an important step for the de-occupation of Crimea and our victory.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/4.jpg\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ctrcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/5.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc3\">In the photo you can see the posters in Cherni<span lang=\"EN-US\">hi<\/span>v. Subsequently, similar boards will be placed in other cities of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc3\">#decolonization_toponymy_of Crimea<\/p>\n<p class=\"xfmc3\">The #LIBERATECRIMEA campaign was presented by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center as part of its project\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">implemented under the USAID\/ENGAGE activity,<\/span>\u00a0which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Pact in Ukraine.
