One of the most famous and persistent Russian myths is the statement Sevastopol is the city of Russian glory.<\/p>\n
Indeed, the Russians have been working for years on the sacralization and\u00a0r<\/span>ussification of Sevastopol. Dozens of songs, films, books, and exhibitions have been created on this topic. Moreover, this myth is one of the main arguments in favor of supporting the occupation of Crimea. But why is Sevastopol not at all the city of Russian glory?<\/p>\n In fact, during the 19th and 20th centuries. the city survived as many as five sieges: in 1854-55,\u00a01918<\/span>,\u00a01919<\/span>, 1941-42 and\u00a01944<\/span>. None of them ended in victory, which is very easy to check in history books.<\/p>\n It was the Crimean War of\u00a01853-1856<\/span>\u00a0that most clearly demonstrated the inadequacy of the Russian army against the advanced armies of Europe.
